As Hip-Hop continues to evolve and adapt, New York City continues to stand strong as one of the meccas of the genre. As true Hip-Hop heads continue to debate the direction of the city's sound, artists like Lex Lavo are just interested in making good music. Although young boys of the new movement tend to mirror some of the artists from the past, their sounds remain unique to their present day experiences.
Lex Lavo's name has been buzzing for quite some time now and he dropped his fourth project The Voice in 2015. With appearances from Jae Tips and Dave East, the EP garnered rave reviews. Eastside's own is back with his third visual off the project "40s N 40s."
This is one of the dopest videos we've seen from an artists of Lex's stature. The video pays homage to the Harlem dope boys of the 80s. Lex has everything down right to the sneakers, phones and jewels. There's even a DJ Brucie B inspired intro to the video. If you're really from the town and born in the late 80's or early 90's, you already know what time it is. "Shouts to the people uptown!"
